Rothesay Test v India at Lord's

The first women's Test staged at Lord's, played from 10 to 13 July. India made 285 and declared their second innings on 341-7; England were dismissed for 170 and 186 to lose by 270 runs. The ICC Women's T20 World Cup in England

The other reason 2026 felt like a women's summer was the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, hosted in England and Wales through June and early July. England reached the final at Lord's on 5 July and lost to Australia, who chased 151 in 17.1 overs to take a seventh title, Beth Mooney making 64 from 49 balls. The shape of an English summer has been stable for a decade or so, and 2026 follows it closely:

• May belongs to the women's international side and the early rounds of the County Championship. England Women hosted New Zealand and then India before the World Cup.
• June and July carry the men's Test cricket and the marquee white-ball tour. New Zealand's three Tests ran through June; India's eight white-ball matches filled the first three weeks of July.
• August is the domestic block. The Hundred takes the middle of the month, which is why England's only international cricket in early August is nothing at all — the men's Test side does not reappear until Headingley on 19 August.
