What this site is
CricketTaken is an independent cricket reference. The statistics here are computed from ball-by-ball match records by scripts written for this site, not copied from a commercial statistics provider. Every computation rule, every source and every known gap is set out on sources and methodology.
The site is published for cricket fans, researchers, writers and casual readers who want checkable records. It is not an official scorekeeper, a bookmaker, a fantasy-sports operator or a replacement for official tournament documentation.
Accuracy, and its limits
Everything is published in good faith and checked as far as it reasonably can be, but it is provided as-is. No warranty is given that any figure is complete or free of error.
The coverage limits matter and are stated wherever they apply. The ball-by-ball archive behind the international figures begins in 2001 for Tests and 2002 for One Day Internationals, so careers that started earlier are partial and are labelled as such. Afghanistan men’s internationals are withheld by the source. Men’s and women’s matches are never combined. Big Bash figures are men’s only. Ashes career figures come from published Test records rather than ball-by-ball data.
None of this is a substitute for an official scorecard. Do not rely on it for anything that matters financially, and in particular do not rely on it for betting. If you find an error, the contact page explains how to report it and what happens next.
Corrections
Corrections are welcome. When a reported issue is confirmed, the underlying calculation or source mapping is fixed first, then the affected pages are regenerated. CricketTaken does not silently alter official facts, invent missing scorecards or merge men’s and women’s records to fill a gap.
Using the figures
You are welcome to quote figures from this site in an article, a video, a forum post or a piece of research. Please attribute CricketTaken and link to the page you took them from, so a reader can check the arithmetic themselves.
Statistics derived from Cricsheet are used under the Open Data Commons Attribution License 1.0, which requires attribution to Cricsheet as well. If you are republishing figures that come from that source, credit both.
What is not welcome is bulk scraping to reproduce the site, or republishing whole articles. The written content is original work and is protected as such.
Using the images
The preview cards and graphics produced for this site are our own work. You may reproduce them alongside a link to the page they came from — in a post about the site, an embed, or a search or social result. Please keep the CricketTaken credit with the image.
Photographs of players and grounds are a different matter. Those are republished here under the licence their photographer chose, which is named in the caption beneath each one along with a link to the original. If you want to reuse a photograph, take it from that source and follow its licence rather than copying it from here — our terms cannot grant rights we do not hold.
Acceptable use
Please do not overload the site with automated requests, try to bypass technical limits, misrepresent CricketTaken as an official source, remove attribution from copied figures, or use the content in a way that suggests a player, team, board or league endorses your work.
No affiliation
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the International Cricket Council, the BCCI, Cricket Australia, the England and Wales Cricket Board, any other national board, any league, any franchise, any broadcaster or any ground. Team names, competition names and player names are used descriptively, as any reference work uses them.
Advertising and analytics
Google’s advertising script and Google Analytics are loaded on these pages. Every third-party service that runs here, what each receives and how to control it is listed service by service on the privacy page.
Advertisers do not control editorial coverage, rankings, corrections or data calculations. Nothing on this site is sponsored or affiliate-monetised, and the separation is set out in the editorial policy.
Links to other sites
Where this site links out, it links to primary sources — boards, the ICC, official competition pages, licensed data archives. Those sites have their own terms and their own privacy practices, and this site is not responsible for what they publish.
