India Women vs Pakistan Head-to-Head: ODI & T20I Record
By CricketTaken EditorialPublished Cricket in India7 min read
India have never lost a one-day international to Pakistan. Twelve matches, twelve wins, the first in 2005 and the most recent at Colombo in October 2025. In Twenty20 internationals the record is seventeen matches, fourteen won by India and three by Pakistan.
No bilateral series has ever been played between them. Every one of the twenty-nine meetings has come at a World Cup, an Asia Cup, a Commonwealth Games or a qualifying tournament, and almost all have been at neutral venues — Colombo, Derby, Mount Maunganui, Galle, Sylhet, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Guyana, Cape Town, Dubai, Birmingham. The two sides have met in India once, at Delhi in 2016, and Pakistan won it.
The most recent meeting is also the most consequential thing either side has done to the other. At Edgbaston on 14 June 2026, in the group stage of the T20 World Cup, Deepti Sharma took 5 for 10 — the best bowling figures recorded in a women's Twenty20 international by anyone, against anyone.
The record
| Format | Matches | India won | Pakistan won | First played |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ODI | 12 | 12 | 0 | 2005 |
| T20I | 17 | 14 | 3 | 2009 |
| Test | 0 | — | — | never |
The sides have never played a women's Test, and none is scheduled.
Every one-day international since 2017
Four of the twelve fifty-over meetings fall inside the period covered by complete ball-by-ball records, and they follow one pattern almost exactly: India bat or bowl, Pakistan are dismissed well below par, India win comfortably.
| Date | Ground | Tournament | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| 19 Feb 2017 | Colombo | World Cup Qualifier | Pakistan 67 (43.4); India 70/3 (22.5). India by 7 wickets |
| 2 Jul 2017 | Derby | World Cup | India 169/9; Pakistan 74 (38.2). India by 95 runs |
| 6 Mar 2022 | Mount Maunganui | World Cup | India 244/7; Pakistan 137 (43.0). India by 107 runs |
| 5 Oct 2025 | Colombo | World Cup | India 247/10; Pakistan 159 (43.0). India by 88 runs |
Pakistan have not passed 160 in any of the four. Ekta Bisht took five wickets in the first and took the award in both 2017 matches; Kranti Gaud took the award at Colombo in 2025 with three wickets for 20.
The most striking figure is Bisht's: ten wickets in the fixture at a cost of 26 runs, from two matches. Left-arm spin has been the recurring problem for Pakistan's batting order in these games, and Bisht, Rajeshwari Gayakwad and later Deepti Sharma have all exploited it.
Edgbaston, 14 June 2026
India opened their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan at Edgbaston. They were 18 for 2 before Smriti Mandhana made 68 from 44 balls and Richa Ghosh accelerated at the end; India finished on 170 for 6, their highest total against Pakistan in the competition.
Deepti Sharma then took 5 for 10 and Pakistan were bowled out for 106 in seventeen overs. Those figures are the best returned in a women's Twenty20 international, and the spell took Deepti past every other bowler in the format's history for career wickets. She took the award.
The 64-run margin is India's largest over Pakistan in the format. It is worth setting against the two results that immediately preceded it in tournament play: a six-wicket win at Dubai in October 2024 chasing 106, and a seven-wicket win at Dambulla in July 2024 chasing 112. India have won the recent meetings comfortably but rarely by this distance.
Pakistan's three wins
All three came in a five-year window and all three were tight.
Galle, 1 October 2012. Pakistan made 98 for 9 in a World Twenty20 group match and bowled India out for 97. One run. Nida Dar took the award, and it was Pakistan's first win over India in the format.
Delhi, 19 March 2016. The only match the sides have played in India, in the World Twenty20. India made 96 for 7 and Pakistan reached 77 for 6 in sixteen overs, winning on a revised target by two runs. Anam Amin took the award. It remains the only Pakistan win over India's women on Indian soil in any format.
Sylhet, 7 October 2022. An Asia Cup group match. Pakistan made 137 for 6 and India were bowled out for 124 with two balls left. Nida Dar again took the award, having now been the difference in two of the three.
The common thread is low scores. Pakistan have never chased a target above 140 against India and have never successfully defended one above 140 either; their three wins came in matches where India's total was 97, 96 and 124. On a surface offering the bowlers something, the gap between the sides narrows a great deal.
Individual figures
The tables below cover the four one-day internationals and fourteen Twenty20 internationals for which complete records exist — that is, most but not all of the fixture. The three earliest Twenty20 meetings and eight of the twelve fifty-over meetings are outside the window, so these are not all-time fixture careers.
| Player | Side | T20I runs | Matches | Highest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Smriti Mandhana | India | 293 | 10 | 68 |
| Bismah Maroof | Pakistan | 240 | 11 | 68 |
| Mithali Raj | India | 236 | 7 | 73 |
| Harmanpreet Kaur | India | 204 | 12 | 36 |
| Nida Dar | Pakistan | 189 | 11 | 56 |
Nobody has made a century in the fixture in either format. Mithali Raj's 73 is the highest score in a Twenty20 international between the sides and Sidra Ameen's 81 the highest in a one-day international.
| Bowler | Side | T20I wickets | Best |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deepti Sharma | India | 14 | 5 for 10 |
| Nida Dar | Pakistan | 8 | 3 |
| Ekta Bisht | India | 7 | 3 |
| Sana Mir | Pakistan | 7 | 4 |
| Nashra Sandhu | Pakistan | 7 | 3 |
Deepti Sharma's fourteen wickets is the most in the fixture and her 5 for 10 the best return by a distance. The wider career figures are on the India women's most wickets and India women's best bowling figures leaderboards.
Why there is no series
The absence of bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan in the men's game is well documented and the women's game follows it exactly: the fixture is governed by the same political constraint, so the sides meet only where a tournament draw compels it.
The practical effect is that this rivalry is played entirely in front of neutral crowds, usually at a World Cup or an Asia Cup, and usually as the opening fixture of a group — organisers schedule it early because it draws the largest audience of the tournament's first week. The Edgbaston match in June 2026 was the sixth match of the competition; the Dubai meeting in 2024 and the Cape Town one in 2023 occupied comparable slots.
It also means the sample is small and the conditions are never home conditions for either side. Twenty-nine matches in twenty-one years is fewer than India play against England in five, and none of them has been in a series with a result riding on it beyond the single game.
What the fixture rests on
India's advantage is structural rather than psychological. The domestic competition behind the Indian side has been transformed by the professional league that now sits above it, described on the women's Premier League guide, and India's central contracts and match volume are both far larger than Pakistan's. A 12-0 one-day record is what that difference looks like over two decades.
What the record does not show is that Pakistan have three times found the conditions and the discipline to win, always in low-scoring Twenty20 matches, and always against India sides that were the heavy favourites. Nida Dar was central to two of them.
For India's other fixtures in the women's game, the India women versus Australia and India women versus England pages carry the two rivalries in which the results actually go both ways, and the India women's cricket history guide covers the run to the 2025 World Cup. The game in the country more broadly is on the cricket in India hub.
Sources and method
The all-format record table is taken from the published record-by-opponent tables for the India women's side and is current to the end of August 2026.
The results table and both individual tables are computed from the complete ball-by-ball record where it exists: four of the twelve one-day internationals, and fourteen of the seventeen Twenty20 internationals. The tables are labelled with that limit rather than presented as complete fixture careers, and the three Twenty20 matches outside the window are counted in the ledger but not in the aggregates.
Deepti Sharma's 5 for 10 at Edgbaston, and the claim that it is the best return in a women's Twenty20 international, follows the match report and the format records published at the time. Pakistan's three wins are verified individually against their scorecards, as is the revised target at Delhi in 2016.
Bowling figures exclude run-outs. The runs-conceded column includes wides and no-balls but leaves byes and leg byes to the team total.
