A new island
The twelfth season opened with a franchise that had not existed six months earlier. Jamaica Tallawahs, champions in 2013, 2016 and 2022, had handed their licence back to the league at the end of 2023, their owners saying they could not run the team sustainably and had not been able to secure support from the Jamaican government. The replacement was based in Antigua: the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, unveiled at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in February 2024 and coached in their first season by Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
Antigua and Barbuda had staged matches in the first two seasons through the Antigua Hawksbills and had gone without a team since 2014. Jamaica, which had one of the two largest cricket populations in the region, now had none.
The group stage
Guyana Amazon Warriors, Trinbago Knight Riders and Saint Lucia Kings all won seven of ten. Barbados Royals won five, the Falcons three in their first season, and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots one.
Nicholas Pooran made 504 runs for the Knight Riders, the most of any batter, including 101 and two innings in the nineties. Quinton de Kock made 115, the highest score of the season. Noor Ahmad, an Afghan left-arm wrist-spinner aged nineteen, took 22 wickets for Saint Lucia and was named player of the tournament. Rahkeem Cornwall took 5 for 16.
Providence, 6 October
Rain shaped the playoffs. Barbados beat the Knight Riders by nine wickets on Duckworth-Lewis-Stern in the Eliminator, having reached 64 for 1 in 4.2 overs; Saint Lucia beat Guyana by fifteen runs on the same method in Qualifier 1 after making 198 for 5. Guyana then beat Barbados by eight wickets in Qualifier 2 to reach the final at their own ground for the second year running.
They made 138 for 8. Saint Lucia chased it in 18.1 overs, losing four wickets, and Roston Chase took the match award. It was the Kings' first title in twelve seasons under three names, and a sixth defeat in a final for Guyana Amazon Warriors, a year after they had finally won one.
