Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Gujarat Titans: IPL H2H Record

Gujarat Titans have played Sunrisers Hyderabad seven times and won six. Hyderabad's single win came in the first meeting of all, at the DY Patil Stadium in April 2022, and nothing in the five years since has gone their way. It is a small sample and the margin flatters Gujarat slightly, but a 6-1 record in which three of the wins came by 34 runs or more is not a coincidence either.
The geography is the clearest pattern. Four of the seven have been played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and Gujarat have won all four. Hyderabad have had one home fixture in the pairing, at Uppal in April 2025, and lost that too. The two neutral matches, both in Mumbai during the 2022 season when the whole league was played there, split one apiece.
Gujarat's arrival in 2022 is worth remembering when reading this record. They won the title in their first season and reached the final in their second, which means several of these meetings pitted a Hyderabad side in transition against a Gujarat side at its strongest. The reverse fixture — a Hyderabad team that made 266 against Delhi in 2024 and 247 against Punjab in 2025 — has still not produced a win against Gujarat.

Ahmedabad has been a closed door
Four matches, four Gujarat wins, and no obvious single cause. In 2023 Gujarat made 188 for 9 on a used pitch and bowled Hyderabad out one short of a full innings for 154. In 2024 they chased 163 with five balls left. In 2025 they made 224 for 6, the highest total the fixture has produced, and won by 38. In 2026 they made a modest 168 for 5 and Hyderabad were bowled out for 86 in fifteen overs, which remains the lowest score by either side in the pairing and the largest margin.
The 2026 collapse is the odd one out and the most instructive. Gujarat's total was the second lowest they have made in the fixture. Kagiso Rabada took 3 for 28, Jason Holder 3 for 20, Hyderabad were four down for 32 inside six overs, and the innings ended at 86 in the fifteenth. The records for the Narendra Modi Stadium show a ground that has generally rewarded pace bowling with the new ball more than the size of the boundaries would suggest, and Gujarat's seam attack has taken the top of Hyderabad's order apart there twice.
The one Hyderabad win
On 11 April 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium, Gujarat made 162 for 7 — Hardik Pandya 50 from 42 — and Hyderabad chased 163 with five balls in hand. Kane Williamson made 57 from 46 as captain and took the match award, with Abhishek Sharma making 42 and Nicholas Pooran 34.
That was Hyderabad's second match of the 2022 season and Gujarat's fourth; Gujarat went on to win the title that year and Hyderabad finished eighth. The chase is the only occasion in this fixture that Hyderabad have successfully batted second, and one of only three occasions they have reached 168 or more.
Rashid Khan on the other side
Rashid Khan spent five seasons at Hyderabad and moved to Gujarat for their inaugural squad in 2022, which makes him the most conspicuous crossover name in the pairing. His figures against his former club are the least Rashid-like of his career in the competition: three wickets in seven innings at an economy of 9.15, with a best of 1 for 28.
That is not a small thing given how central he is to Gujarat's bowling in general. Six of Gujarat's wins have been built on other bowlers — Mohit Sharma's 4 for 28 and Mohammed Shami's 4 for 21 in the same 2023 innings, Mohammed Siraj's 4 for 17 at Uppal in 2025, Prasidh Krishna and Rabada more recently. Rashid Khan has bowled 143 balls in the fixture for 218 runs, and Hyderabad are the one side he has not solved.
Two five-wicket hauls, both in vain
The fixture has produced two five-wicket returns and both belong to Hyderabad bowlers, and both came in matches Hyderabad lost.
Umran Malik took 5 for 25 at the Wankhede on 27 April 2022 and was named player of the match; Gujarat still chased 196, getting there off the final ball with Rahul Tewatia and David Miller finishing. Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 5 for 30 in Ahmedabad on 15 May 2023 to restrict Gujarat to 188 for 9, and Hyderabad were then bowled out for 154.
Gujarat's best return in the fixture is 4 for 17, by Siraj at Uppal in 2025, in the match where Hyderabad were held to 152 for 8 on their own ground and Gujarat won with twenty balls to spare.

Shubman Gill has played every match in the fixture and scored more than a hundred runs more than anyone else in it. His 101 from 58 balls in Ahmedabad in May 2023 — thirteen fours and a single six — is the only century the pairing has produced, and he has three scores above sixty in seven innings.
Abhishek Sharma is the only Hyderabad batter with a comparable return, and his 239 runs at a strike rate of 149 have come in a side that has lost six times, which is the more difficult context. Klaasen has reached twenty in four of his five innings here without ever going on, which is a reasonable summary of Hyderabad's problem in the fixture.

Mohit Sharma's seven wickets from two innings at 6.63 is the most efficient return in the record, and Siraj's economy of 5.55 across three is the tightest of anyone who has bowled more than five overs in the fixture. Between them Gujarat's four seam bowlers in this table have 27 wickets from eleven innings.
Hyderabad's two leading wicket-takers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umran Malik, have thirteen wickets between them from six innings — an excellent rate, and not enough, because both have taken their wickets in matches decided by batting.
What a seven-match sample will and will not support
Seven matches is not many, and the honest reading of a 6-1 record over that span is that it is a real advantage but not necessarily a large one. Two useful qualifications sit in the data.
First, three of the seven were close: an eight-wicket chase, a last-ball five-wicket chase and a seven-wicket win with five balls left. Strip out the three heavy defeats in 2023, 2025 and 2026 and the pairing looks ordinary rather than one-sided.
Second, this is not a toss story. The side batting second has won four of the seven, and Gujarat have won three chasing and three defending. What Gujarat have done consistently is avoid losing wickets in clusters: they have never been bowled out in the fixture and have never finished more than nine down, while Hyderabad have been dismissed once and have finished eight or nine wickets down in three further innings.

All seven Sunrisers Hyderabad–Gujarat Titans fixtures from April 2022 to May 2026 were compiled from ball-by-ball scorecard data, and results, venues, margins, match awards and innings figures were cross-checked against ESPNcricinfo Statsguru and the official IPL match archive. The record is complete to the end of the 2026 season.
Batting and bowling aggregates count only this fixture. Wickets exclude run-outs. Strike rates and economy rates are rounded. The lowest-total figures count innings in which a side was bowled out or batted twenty overs, so a completed chase is not counted as a low score.
Because the sample is seven matches, no averages or rates in this page should be read as career-level indicators, and the qualifications in the closing section are there for that reason. The wicket-timing observation is computed from ball-by-ball data rather than taken from any published summary. The 2022 season was played entirely at four grounds in Mumbai and Pune, which is why two of these fixtures have no home side.
