Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Lucknow Super Giants: IPL H2H

Eight matches, five to Royal Challengers Bengaluru and three to Lucknow Super Giants since Lucknow entered the competition in 2022. The one knockout came in Lucknow's first season: Bengaluru beat them by 14 runs in the Eliminator at Eden Gardens on 25 May 2022, having made 207 for 4.
For a fixture of only eight matches it has been unusually eventful. Lucknow won at Chinnaswamy in April 2023 by one wicket, reaching 213 for 9 in reply to 212 for 2 — the narrowest possible result and the highest chase either side has completed against the other at that ground. Two years later at Ekana, Bengaluru overhauled 228 in 18.4 overs, which is the largest successful chase in the fixture by a margin of fifteen runs. And the most recent meeting, at Ekana in May 2026, was cut to nineteen overs a side and decided by a Duckworth-Lewis-Stern calculation.
Neither side has won more than two consecutively, and no season has been swept.

Reading the last three columns down shows how little the fixture settles into a shape. Two Bengaluru wins by 18 runs, a one-wicket finish, a 28-run Lucknow win, a chase of 228, a chase of 147 and a DLS result. There is no repeated margin type in eight matches.

Each side has a better record at the other's ground. Lucknow have won two of three at Chinnaswamy — including the one-wicket game — while Bengaluru have won two of three at Ekana, including the 228 chase. The two neutral fixtures, at Navi Mumbai in the 2022 group stage and at Eden Gardens in the Eliminator, both went to Bengaluru.
Bengaluru's single home win in the fixture is the 2026 match, when Lucknow were bowled out for 146 and the chase took 15.1 overs. That is also the only completed innings under 150 either side has made at Chinnaswamy here; the other two produced 212 and 213 in the same match.

Lucknow reached the playoffs in their first season and met Bengaluru, who had beaten them by 18 runs at Navi Mumbai five weeks earlier. Bengaluru's 207 for 4 remains their highest total in the fixture outside the 230 at Ekana, and Lucknow's 193 for 6 was the closest any side has come to chasing 200 against them here without succeeding. Seven of the sixteen innings in the fixture have reached 200, and the average first-innings total is 186. Two matches account for four of the seven: the Ekana game of May 2025, which produced 457 runs across 38.4 overs, and the Chinnaswamy game of April 2023, which produced 425.
Against that, the Ekana fixture of 1 May 2023 produced 234 runs in total. Bengaluru made 126 for 9 and still won by eighteen, bowling Lucknow out for 108 in 19.5 overs — the lowest total in the fixture and the only successful defence of a sub-150 score in it. Unlike most fixtures involving either side, this one has slightly favoured defending — five results to three — which is what the two low-scoring games at Chinnaswamy and Ekana produced.
Four observations the tables do not carry:
- The one-wicket win at Chinnaswamy in April 2023 is the narrowest result either franchise has been involved in against the other, and Lucknow needed the last ball to get it.
- Bengaluru's five wins came by 18 runs, 14 runs, 18 runs, six wickets and five wickets. Lucknow's three came by one wicket, 28 runs and nine runs on DLS. Neither side has a comfortable win in the fixture.
- Every meeting since 2024 has been played at either Chinnaswamy or Ekana, and the two grounds have split them two apiece.
- The 2024 and 2025 seasons each produced one meeting, a consequence of the group draw rather than any scheduling decision about the fixture.

Sources and method
The eight scorelines, with dates, grounds, batting order, innings totals and margins, are drawn from this site's IPL season match lists for 2022 to 2026 and confirmed against ESPNcricinfo scorecards. Batting order in the main table is taken from those scorecards, because in a fixture this short the defending and chasing split turns on getting each one right.
Conventions. All eight meetings produced a result. The Ekana match of 7 May 2026 was reduced to nineteen overs a side and decided by the DLS method; it is counted in the win columns and excluded from the first-innings average. The Ekana Cricket Stadium appears under two names in the source records, including its full BRSABV form, and is consolidated here to three matches. The DY Patil match of April 2022 and the Eden Gardens Eliminator are both treated as neutral, since neither side was the designated host.
Fixture-only individual aggregates are not published. This site's dataset records match results rather than ball-by-ball detail, so the leading run scorer and wicket taker across these eight matches specifically cannot be computed from it; rather than approximate, the figures are left out. All figures current as of 27 August 2026.
