Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants: IPL H2H Record

Lucknow Super Giants have won six of the nine matches against Mumbai Indians since joining the competition in 2022. Mumbai have won three, and one of those three is the only knockout the two have played.
Two patterns run through the fixture. Mumbai have played three matches at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow and lost all three, by five runs in 2023, by four wickets in 2024 and by twelve runs in 2025. And Lucknow have won five of their six by defending a total rather than chasing one, which is the opposite of how they have handled most opponents.
The exception to everything is the Eliminator at Chepauk on 24 May 2023. Mumbai made 182 for 8, bowled Lucknow out for 101 in 16.3 overs and won by 81 runs — the largest margin in the fixture and Lucknow's lowest total in it by 31 runs.

Lucknow won the first three, Mumbai took the Eliminator, Lucknow won three more, and Mumbai have won the last two. Neither side has managed more than three in a row, and the pattern has alternated in blocks rather than match by match.

Three visits to Lucknow, three defeats, and none of them heavy: five runs, four wickets and twelve runs. Mumbai have been within a boundary or two of winning at Ekana on every trip and have not managed it. Their own ground has been better but not comfortable — two wins from four, with Lucknow taking the 2022 and 2024 fixtures there.
The 2022 Brabourne match was played at a neutral Mumbai venue in the season staged across four Maharashtra grounds. Lucknow won it by 18 runs, having made 199 for 4.
Lucknow defend, and the one time they could not

Five of Lucknow's six wins came setting the target. Their only successful chase in the fixture is the four-wicket win at Ekana on 30 April 2024, when they overhauled 145 with four balls left — and 145 is the second-lowest total Mumbai have made against them.
Mumbai's one chase is the most recent match. At the Wankhede on 4 May 2026 they made 229 for 4 in 18.4 overs to overhaul Lucknow's 228 for 5, which is by far the largest successful chase in the fixture and the highest-scoring meeting the two have had at 457 runs.

All five 200-plus innings came at the Wankhede or at Ekana in 2025, and four of the five since 2024. The first-innings average across the nine matches is 192, which puts the fixture among the highest-scoring either side plays, and the Ekana records page shows how the Lucknow surface has changed across the three visits.
The lowest totals are Lucknow's 101 all out in the Eliminator and Mumbai's 132 for 8 at the Wankhede in April 2022. Those are the only two innings in the fixture below 144, and they came in different seasons at different grounds, so there is no low-scoring venue to point to.

Mumbai had lost the league fixture at Ekana eight days earlier by five runs, then met Lucknow again at a neutral ground with the season on the line and won by 81. It is the only match in the fixture decided by more than 54 runs, and the only one in which either side was bowled out for a total under 130. Four observations the tables do not carry:
- Lucknow's six wins came by 18 runs twice, 36 runs, five runs, twelve runs and four wickets. None was by more than 36, which makes the Eliminator's 81-run margin the sharpest break in the fixture's pattern.
- Mumbai's three wins came by 81 runs, 54 runs and six wickets. There is no narrow Mumbai win in the fixture at all.
- Neither side has taken both legs of a season except Lucknow in 2022 and 2024.
- Every one of the nine matches has been played in Mumbai, Lucknow or Chennai, and Mumbai's record in those three cities is 2-3, 0-3 and 1-0 respectively.
Where the fixture sits
Lucknow entered the IPL in 2022 alongside Gujarat Titans, when the league went to ten teams and split them into two groups of five. The Mumbai Indians hub and the Lucknow Super Giants hub hold the squad and honours detail. Rohit Sharma's Mumbai career spans the fixture's whole life. Mumbai's other expansion-era fixture, against Gujarat Titans, has produced an almost identical nine-match record with a very different shape. Sources and method
The nine scorelines, with their dates, grounds and margins, are drawn from this site's IPL season match lists for 2022 to 2026 and confirmed against ESPNcricinfo. Batting order for the defending and chasing analysis comes from each match's scorecard, since the fixture's main finding depends on it.
Conventions. All nine meetings produced a result: there is no tie, no Super Over and no abandonment in the fixture. The Ekana Cricket Stadium appears in the source records under two names, including its full BRSABV form, and is consolidated here to three matches. The Brabourne Stadium fixture of April 2022 is listed under Mumbai's grounds in the venue table, though the 2022 season was staged at four neutral Maharashtra venues rather than at either side's home. The 2023 Eliminator at Chepauk was a neutral-venue knockout.
Fixture-only individual aggregates are not published. The dataset behind these tables records match results rather than ball-by-ball detail, so a leading run scorer or wicket taker across these nine matches specifically cannot be computed from it, and we have left the figures out rather than estimate them.
