Kolkata Knight Riders have won seventeen of the 33 matches against Rajasthan Royals and Rajasthan fourteen. Two more were abandoned, and two finished level — an unusually high count of ties for a fixture of this length, and both went to Rajasthan.
The second of the two is the reason this fixture appears in rule books. At the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on 29 April 2014 both sides made 152, and both scored eleven in the Super Over. Rajasthan were awarded the match on a higher boundary count. Ajinkya Rahane made 72 and James Faulkner took three for eleven. It remains the only IPL match decided that way; when the same situation arose six years later the competition played a second Super Over instead.
The earlier tie, at Newlands on 23 April 2009, was settled more conventionally: both sides finished on 150 and Rajasthan won the Super Over.

Kolkata had already beaten Rajasthan twice that season, at Jaipur by seven wickets and at Eden Gardens by six, and completed the sweep in the Eliminator at their own ground. Rajasthan's home record is the strongest column: seven wins from ten across Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Guwahati. Kolkata's is eight from twelve completed matches at Eden Gardens. The fixture is therefore decided in the neutral column, where Kolkata lead 6-3 — including both matches in Dubai during the 2020 season and the 86-run win at Sharjah in October 2021.

Rajasthan's suspension removed 2016 and 2017 from the fixture. Kolkata have won the three most recent meetings, and their longest run is four, from April 2018 to April 2019.
Margins: the widest and the narrowest
Kolkata hold the fixture's biggest win, 86 runs at Sharjah on 7 October 2021, when Rajasthan were bowled out for 85 in 16.1 overs — their lowest total against Kolkata after the 81 all out at Eden Gardens in April 2011. Kolkata's 60-run win at Dubai in November 2020 is the second largest, and Rajasthan's biggest is 45 runs, from the fixture's very first match at Jaipur in 2008.
The narrowest is Kolkata's one-run win at Eden Gardens on 4 May 2025, defending 206 for 4 against 205 for 8. Add the two ties, Rajasthan's two-wicket win at the same ground in April 2024 chasing 224, and the seven-run and nine-run results at the Brabourne, and seven of the 31 completed matches were decided by nine runs or fewer, by two wickets or by a tie-breaker.

The top four rows come from two matches: Eden Gardens in April 2024, which produced 447 runs and a two-wicket Rajasthan win, and the Brabourne in April 2022, which produced 427 and a seven-run Rajasthan win. Both are chases that came within one hit of the target.
Scoring in the fixture has climbed steeply. The first-innings average was 142 across the twelve meetings from 2008 to 2013, 163 from 2014 to 2019 and 175 since 2020. Only six innings have passed 200 and all six came in 2022 or later — the Eden Gardens pitch report and the Sawai Mansingh pitch report between them cover the two grounds where most of the fixture has been played.

Four observations the tables leave out:
- Kolkata have won twelve of their seventeen batting second, and only five defending. Rajasthan's split is the reverse, which makes the fixture unusually sensitive to who wins the toss.
- Rajasthan have won both matches at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad and both at the Brabourne Stadium, four from four at grounds neither side calls home.

- Neither side has won both legs of a season since Kolkata in 2020, though Kolkata took the only meeting of 2026.

Sources and method
Every one of the 33 results, with its date, ground, innings totals and margin, is taken from this site's IPL season match lists for 2008 to 2026 and confirmed against ESPNcricinfo scorecards. The Abu Dhabi match of April 2014 was verified in detail, since the boundary-count outcome is the page's most unusual claim: both sides made 152, both scored eleven in the Super Over, and Rajasthan were awarded the match on boundaries, with Rahane making 72 and Faulkner taking three for eleven.
Conventions. Both tied matches are credited to Rajasthan, and the alternative reading is given above. The two abandoned fixtures — Eden Gardens in April 2015 and Guwahati in May 2024 — are counted in the 33 and excluded from the win columns and every average. Home allocation counts each side's principal grounds plus their designated secondary venues, so Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Guwahati are Rajasthan home fixtures while the Brabourne, Wankhede, Sharjah, Dubai and the two South African matches are neutral. The Guwahati ground appears under two names in the source records and is consolidated to two matches.
Fixture-only individual aggregates are not published. The dataset behind these tables records match results rather than ball-by-ball detail, so a leading run scorer or wicket taker across these 33 matches specifically cannot be derived from it, and it is left out rather than estimated.
