Kolkata Knight Riders have won twenty of the 37 matches against Delhi Capitals and Delhi sixteen. One was abandoned, at the Feroz Shah Kotla in May 2008, and one was tied — at the same ground on 30 March 2019, when both sides finished on 185 and Delhi won the Super Over.
Kolkata have won both knockouts: Qualifier 1 at Pune in 2012 by eighteen runs, and Qualifier 2 at Sharjah in 2021 by three wickets, chasing 136 with a ball to spare. They went on to the final on both occasions and won the title in 2012.
The fixture's largest total and largest margin come from the same match. At the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam on 3 April 2024 Kolkata made 272 for 7 and bowled Delhi out for 166 in 17.2 overs, winning by 106 runs. The 272 is the highest total Kolkata have made in the IPL against anyone.

The middle row is the anomaly. Kolkata have won seven of the twelve completed matches in Delhi — a better return than Delhi themselves have managed at Eden Gardens, where they have three wins from eleven. Delhi's compensation is everywhere else: 8-5 across thirteen matches in South Africa, the UAE, Pune, Raipur, Ahmedabad, Visakhapatnam and the 2022 season's Mumbai venues.

Delhi played as Delhi Daredevils through 2018 and as Delhi Capitals from 2019; the Feroz Shah Kotla became the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the same year. Kolkata's longest run is four, achieved twice — from April 2015 to April 2016 and again from April 2024 to May 2026. Delhi's best is also four, across the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

The 272 is 44 runs clear of anything else in the fixture, and the IPL's highest team totals page puts it in league context. Visakhapatnam has hosted this fixture once and produced its two most extreme innings — the 272 and Delhi's 166 all out in reply; the ACA-VDCA records page covers the ground.
At the other end, Delhi have made three completed innings under 130 in the fixture: 98 all out at Eden Gardens in 2016, 110 all out there in 2008 and 129 all out in April 2018, when Kolkata won by 71 runs. Kolkata's lowest full-length total is 123 for 8 at Johannesburg in 2009.
The first-innings average has risen from 145 across the eleven meetings from 2008 to 2013, to 170 from 2014 to 2019 and 177 since 2020.
Margins and close finishes

Kolkata's three-wicket wins at Sharjah in September and October 2021 are the two tightest results in the fixture, and both came in the same season at the same ground — the second of them Qualifier 2. Beyond those, and the 2019 tie, only four matches have been decided by fewer than fifteen runs or by four wickets, so the fixture has produced more comfortable results than close ones.
Kolkata hold the three largest margins by runs — 106, 71 and 59 — and Delhi's biggest is 55 runs at the Kotla in April 2018, one of two 40-plus wins they have managed alongside the 44-run result at the Brabourne in 2022 and the 40-run win at Eden Gardens in May 2026.
Four observations the tables leave out:
- Delhi have won three matches at Eden Gardens in eighteen years, in 2012, 2019 and 2026. Kolkata have won seven in Delhi in the same period.
- Both of Delhi's South African wins came in the 2009 season, and they have not beaten Kolkata by nine or seven wickets since.
- The 2012 season is the only one in which the two met three times before 2021, and both those seasons ended with Kolkata winning the deciding knockout.
- Every Kolkata win since 2024 has come away from Eden Gardens except one, and the four-match run includes results at Visakhapatnam and the Arun Jaitley Stadium twice.

Sources and method
The 37 scorelines, with dates, grounds, innings totals and margins, come from this site's IPL season match lists for 2008 to 2026, each confirmed against the ESPNcricinfo scorecard. The Visakhapatnam match of April 2024 was checked in detail because both the fixture's record total and its record margin come from it.
Conventions. The abandoned fixture at the Feroz Shah Kotla in May 2008 is counted in the 37 and excluded from the win columns and all averages. The tied match of March 2019 is credited to Delhi because the Super Over decided it; a reader separating ties can read the ledger as Kolkata 20, Delhi 15, one tied, one no result. Franchise and ground names follow the season, and the two Delhi ground rows in the venue table are the same venue before and after its 2019 renaming, combined into one thirteen-match row in the ledger. Home allocation counts principal grounds only, which places Raipur, Visakhapatnam, Ahmedabad, Pune, the UAE fixtures, the South African leg and the 2022 Mumbai venues in the neutral row.
Fixture-only individual aggregates are not published here. The dataset behind these tables records match results rather than ball-by-ball detail, so a leading run scorer or wicket taker across these 37 matches specifically cannot be computed from it, and the figures are omitted rather than estimated.
